Now Here is a Great Encouragement…

I’m guessing that there have been times in your life when you’ve invested heart, time, strength or money into various projects or ventures and wondered if it has been worth it.

“What was the point?” you might have asked yourself.  The results were far less than you expected and perhaps, sadly, proved to result in a negative outcome.  I think we’ve all been in this place at some point in our lives.

I’m so delighted to encourage you today with some good news.

All of the Bible, it’s every word, is a great gift from God. There are some chapters, however, that really stand out.  1 Corinthians 15 is one of those chapters.  It presents in great detail the fact of the resurrection of Jesus and offers the marvelous results of this life changing event.

Because of the resurrection of Christ we will be raised “imperishable”.  We shall be raised “in power” in a “spiritual body”.  We shall bear the likeness “of the man from heaven”.   “We will all be changed, in a flash, in the twinkling of an eye.  For the trumpet will sound, the dead will be raised imperishable, and we will be changed.”

What a chapter…what truth…what an experience to come!

What is the glorious conclusion to all of this?  Right at the end of the chapter, verse 58 Paul writes:  “Therefore, my dear brothers, stand firm, Let nothing move you.  Always give yourselves fully to the work of the Lord, because you know that your labor in the Lord is not in vain.

The great “resurrection chapter” leads to something so practical.  As temples of the Holy Spirit everything we do has purpose and value.  Nothing is “in vain”.  There is always a “point” to our often experienced feeling that there was no point.  All our activities are worth the effort.

Jesus is alive forever and we shall live forever with him.  Thus, all that we do now is extremely meaningful in spite of what we might see or feel.

And I think that is a “Great Encouragement”.
