Every year Heartland, in partnership with The Open Door, hosts a Summer fundraiser to fill 100 backpacks with school supplies to under resourced families in our cities.

Heartland provides the backpacks – you purchase one for $10 and fill it with school supplies! We provide a list of suggested items as request by the Open Door. Once your backpack is filled you can return it back to Heartland on Sunday Mornings at Guest Services or at our office location at 2450 Milltower Ct during the week.

Our Backpacks for Kids initiative starts Sunday July 28th and all backpacks must be returned by Sunday August 25th so we can ensure they get to The Open Door before children begin the new school year!
